It's been a while since I've done a post on the blog, so I just wanted to check in and say hi. We've been getting spring fever at our house, and none of us can wait for it to warm up so we can go outside and play! The weather was freezing cold, then it was nice for a few days (well, around 35 degrees anyway!), and now we're back to snow again today. I can't wait for summer to get here!

One of my kids' very favorite things to do is take pictures with the self-timer on my camera, so we did that today to help out with the boredom. I can't wait for SUMMER!!! I hope you're somewhere cuddled up staying warm today!

I did pictures on Saturday for Jesse, Hailey, and their new little baby, Kooper. It was so much fun to have them come over and hang out while I played with the new baby. He's so stinkin' cute! They stayed for a few hours and I got my baby-fix, but hopefully they'll come back soon before it wears off again.

I think this one will be one of my last sessions of the year....it's started snowing and raining. BOO! I'm already planning on moving somewhere nice and warm someday. Hopefully that fits in with my kids' plans and their future families, because they'll all have to come with me!

This family lives close to me and you've seen pictures of little Reagan before, but this was my first time doing the whole family. I can't believe that my baby started preschool today! She is so excited that she gets to go to the same teacher that her big brother had. The kids get to do show-and-tell at the first of the month, so she picked out a musical jewelry box to show everyone. She felt like such a big girl today, especially since she got to wear her favorite little dress! (She was a little upset that I made her wear a t-shirt underneath though, because it's kind of cool outside!)

I'm excited to tell you that I finally got a new computer! I needed one so badly. The one that I had been using was almost 8 years old....and it was s...l...o...w... Now I'm trying to figure everything out all over again. Everything looks different to me on this monitor, so it might take a while before I get used to it all. I hope the pictures don't look too crazy!

On Saturday, my cousin Mike, and his beautiful wife Laurie, were sealed in the LDS temple. You can see that he was pretty excited about it!

It was fun to see my cousins again. They're spread out all over these days... Colorado, Florida, Las Vegas. I wish we could have spent more time catching up with each other!

I remember reading a quote once that said something along the lines of an image in color shows the life of your subject, and an image in black and white captures the soul of your subject. It was written much better than that, but hopefully you get the idea. These two photos reminded me of that quotation. If anyone knows the exact wording I'd love to have it!

I'm having a lot of fun editing this session! Little Miss Abigail is almost 2 years old, and I'm pretty sure that she has her daddy completely wrapped around her little finger. Rainy Day (Idaho's family, child, newborn, senior portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

I got to spend all of yesterday morning hanging out with this little guy! It rained all day, so we had to stay inside, and there is actually SNOW on the ground today :( I miss the 70 degree temps from a few days ago. It seems like every year we get a few nice days, and then it either decides to be really cold, OR it jumps up into the 80-90's without a nice spring season before the hot summer months.

My kids got to play with Paxten for a little while, and he was so funny. Easton came in and sat on the floor next to him, and Pax crawled over as fast as he could, and then climbed up on him while he was squealing with excitement and trying to grab Easton's face. He did that over and over again, and I think he laughed every time that Easton would so much as glance in his direction. So funny! We all had a great time hanging out!

I was able to do pictures of these little sweeties on Saturday morning. Little Jordyn is already around 6 weeks old, and she was not at all interested in sleeping while she was visiting me! I haven't done a newborn since last summer, so it was a lot of fun, and her big brother was such a sweetheart. Very mellow and easygoing.

I can't believe that it's been a whole year since I did Reagan's newborn pictures! She was one of the most easy-going one-year-olds that I've ever met, and I had so much fun doing her pictures today.

I set up a little makeshift studio in my kitchen, and we did a Valentine mini-session. She wasn't sure what to do with the lollipop at first, but it didn't take her too long to figure out that it tasted good!

Have you seen these adorable little soda bottles shaped like ornaments? We came across them at the store the other day, and my kids begged to get one. My little boy decided to trade his in for a treat when we were checking out, but Reese wanted to keep hers.

We forgot about it when we got home, but she remembered first thing the next morning and had some for breakfast. Don't worry.....

Here's a sneak peek for my aunt and her family! I got to do their pictures on Saturday--it was cold, but the sun was shining bright. I grew up with my cousin Robyn, and we had so much fun together. I remember one summer when we set up a little stand on her street to sell ice slushies. We offered just about every flavor of Kool-Aid, and then we decided to get creative and try pickle juice. (They weren't a big seller :)

I'm offering a fun calendar this week only as a special thank-you to all of the clients that I've had over the past year. This is something that I normally don't offer, but I think these would make awesome Christmas gifts! I've ordered several of these to give as gifts, and they're really beautiful!

The calendar is 5x7 and you can choose which horizontal picture from your session that you'd like to use. They are mounted on .080 styrene (not cheap art board!), then a black edge treatment is applied, and an easel is attached to the back.

Little Kimball and Kell are super close in age...if I remember correctly they're only about 6 months apart! This first picture of Kimball cracks me up. He was exclaiming that he's a "buckaroo!" I got to do pictures of this cute family early this morning, (well....it was early by my standards anyway!) It was really overcast, but that turned out pretty good because we didn't have to worry about the sun casting harsh shadows into their eyes.

My little Reesie had her first ear infection last week. We started her off on Amoxicillin, but she had a huge allergic reaction, and we had to switch her antibiotic. Today was the first day when she hasn't run a low-grade fever, and we went outside to blow bubbles while we waited for Easton to get off the bus. Ignore her grubby face!!!

This family lives out by my parents, and I'm pretty sure that the last time I saw the kids they were around 3 feet tall--I can't believe how much they've grown! I was worried when I woke up yesterday morning that we might have to reschedule their session, because it looked like it was going to rain, but the clouds cleared up in time.

These boys are both so photogenic....

I can't believe that she's only THIRTEEN! Isn't she pretty?!!

This was such a gorgeous family to photograph! They had done an amazing job of finding several locations for our shoot, and each spot had something fun around every corner. Little Challis was just about to burst with personality--so dang cute!

We ran out of sun long before I was ready to be done with their session. I'll be posting more from this one after I've had a chance to go through them all.

I haven't entered the I ♥ Faces challenge for a while, and when I saw that they were doing "nostalgia" as the theme, and that they had the incredible Jose Villa as a guest judge, I knew that I wanted to play.

mini-sessions (Idaho's family and child portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

I've had an incredible response to the mini-sessions idea when I posted about it on Facebook, so I've decided to offer them on two days! The first will be on Sept 26th, and the second will be held on Oct 10th. I'm opening up time slots from 1-3 pm on both days, with appointments every 10 minutes. You can dress your kids in Fall colors/clothing, or in their Halloween costumes--or sign up to do one of each!

I haven't decided on the location yet, but it will either be at a park or with a backdrop in my garage studio. I'm expecting these sessions to fill up quickly, so call early to book your appointment!

The cost is $25 (add $10 for each additional child, immediate family only) and will include 5-10 images to be uploaded to my lab so that you can order unlimited prints.

I just remembered that I never posted pictures of my wall tree on here! This is a project that I found on Ohdeedoh a while back. I fell completely in love with idea, and begged Joe to bring home some old pallets so that we could make one too.

It took a few weeks to talk him into it, but this is the finished project. This is located in the hallway/living room right as you first walk into my house. My favorite part has to be the initials that I asked Joe to carve into the base of the tree: J+S

I also made four owls to represent our little family. I might use thumbtacks to add pictures or notes at some point. I was also thinking that it would be fun to document the kids height, but I need to get going on that soon--Easton is already almost to the branches!

Festival (Idaho's family portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

Last night we took our family to the Sho-Ban Festival in Fort Hall. I've only been once before, and it was right after we found out that I was pregnant with Easton. I bought his first pair of moccasins there. I can remember how incredibly hot and dusty it was that time, but last night the weather was just right.

We met up with Joe's mom, Aaron and Lori, Todd and Tammy and their girls, and several of his cousins along the way. We made our way through the crowds to be in the arena for the "Grand Entrance" and the energy there was amazing. The drums and singing are so loud that you can't hear anything at all, and the beat of the drums vibrates through your whole body. It was awesome. I think that the dancing goes all through the night with the different tribes and divisions.

There were so many things to look at, and people were selling their homemade wares in little stalls. The frybread was delicious; Joe had a Navajo taco when we first got there, and then we all bought a piece with honey and butter as were were getting ready to leave. yum.

I loved this girl's hair piece, and asked her if I could take a picture. It was super sparkly in the sunlight.

This is Josie. Her mom is Joe's cousin, Josephine. I was excited to run into her so that I could take a picture of someone that we know. The silver things on the bottom of her skirt are bells that tinkle when she moves. She danced in the Grand Entry, but there were so many people that I'm not sure if we saw her. I can't even guess how much her costume would have cost, but we bought a tiny little 1 1/2-inch pair of beaded hairclips for $8.

This little guy is Syric (not sure how to spell that!) His mom is Joe's niece, Karen. I think he's about 3 months old now, and Joe was crouched down talking to him in the stroller and waving at him. Syric waved back several times, we weren't expecting that!

If you ever get the chance to go to a Pow Wow, you should definitely go. It was a lot of fun, and I'm excited to have something like that to be able to show my kids a little bit about their history.

We can always do pictures in the snow, but sometimes it's just easier for little ones to cooperate when they aren't cold.

Crafty (Idaho's family and child portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

I've been in some kind of creative frenzy over the last few days. I keep jumping from blog-to-blog-to-blog, collecting ideas as I go. I found an awesome tutorial on Happy Together that shows how to make a cute dress out of a shirt, and decided that I would at least attempt it, and if it didn't work I wasn't too worried because it was just one of my old shirts anyway.

My mom stopped by when I was about halfway through, and she sewed around the arm holes and attached the ruffles for me. I think I'm going to try another soon. It really wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. These pictures aren't the best, but they give you an idea of what it looks like. I wish that I would have taken a "before" shot of the shirt though.

The ruffles are my very favorite part, and I can picture these on pillows, and onesies, and all sorts of things now. Nothing in my home will be safe from ruffles now that I know how to make them!

My next project came from Nannygoat--(I laughed when I saw her name, because my uncle used to call my cousin that). This is the ugly, old frame that I bought at the DI yesterday. Didn't it turn out cute?

I think that if I were to make these again, I would use a little thicker ribbon to give the clips more to hold on to. I also need to find some hanger clips to glue onto the backs before I can hang them.

I have a few more projects in mind that I'll hopefully get around to in the next few days. One of them is made from recycled belts....I hope they work!

The Blackfoot Little League contacted me a few days ago to see if I would be interested in donating something from FizzieLime Photography for a raffle they're doing to raise money. I was really excited about this, because I keep thinking that I need to do something more with advertising, but haven't done too much yet. FizzieLime is donating a free session (up to 6 people) +15 images ($150 value!)

They weren't completely sure if the raffle would be held at the old ball fields by State Hospital, or at the new fields by Airport Park, but they think they'll most likely be at the new fields. The raffle will be held at 7 pm, and it sounds like they have some fun things planned!

Posts are always better with a picture, and these make me laugh. Reese found this old pair of glasses that I had bought a few years ago with my sister, and now I can't get her to take them off!

My brother and his wife welcomed their first baby into the world early Monday morning, and he's about the cutest thing EVER! Look at those big, squishy cheeks! Atrion weighed 8 pounds 15 oz and was 22 1/2 inches long--the hospital told them that this was the longest baby they've had there.

They are going to make the best parents, and I'm so happy for them. I'm hoping to be able to take lots of pictures of this little guy. Love you guys!

Storyboards are sealed in a durable, transparent matte laminate and heat-fused to a dense substrate. They have a flush edge and come finished with a classic bevel. These are gorgeous works of art that can either be hung by the keyhole openings on back or displayed on an easel. The best part is that these come ready-to-hang, and you don't need to frame them. Our Shoes (Idaho's family photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

I just ordered this picture in a 16x20 for my house, and I can't wait for it to arrive! I got this idea from Ashley Ann, and my plan is to slowly recreate her whole house....I'm not even joking :) I really love her style, and she has completely inspired me to get busy decorating my house again.

The shoes absolutely show a little about who we are as a family at this moment in time. My husband has had those same boots for years and years now. To me, they represent how hard he works to provide for his family. My little girl's sandals are almost falling apart, because she never slows down and gets into everything. My son's are in slightly better condition, he's a little more cautious and nurturing by nature. Mine are comfy with a splash of color--I like to play it safe, but am enthusiastic about life.

Colorful Country Session (Idaho's family photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

I did a few pictures the other night--in between the RAIN showers! I really thought that we would have to cancel their session, but it worked out pretty good and we just ended up waiting in their house for 10-15 minutes until it stopped.

In this first one, they're sitting on a "spud planter". I admitted that I had no idea what a "spud planter" was, and they thought that was pretty funny since we're in Idaho. In my defense, they said that it came from the 1800's, so how would I know! :)

(okay, I'm probably the only person in Idaho that didn't know that, right?)

I loved this red barn!

There were all sorts of old barns and things on their property, and it made for some great backdrops.

Yes, that really is an old outhouse....Lyle was excited to have a picture next to it, so we did!

I had fun doing their pictures, and they even sent me home with a dozen fresh eggs from their chickens as a little bonus--nice!

Sidewalk paint (Idaho's family and child portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

The kids and I made some sidewalk paint today by mixing 1/4 cup cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and some food coloring.

My little girl lost her balance and fell forward into her paint, and it splashed everywhere. She was sad for a few minutes, and had to come over and show me that it was on her shoulder, arm, legs, and ear.

Then she was right back to work again.

The red and yellow worked pretty good, but the blue turned white as it dried and you couldn't see it very well. My kids had a great time, and it was fun to do something different than what they usually do all day.

I put together another clothing guide today while my kids were supposed to be napping. If this were for me, I would put another shirt under the dress but I couldn't find one with the right colors at Gap, and I wanted to keep everything from the same place. I also think it would be fun if big brother and dad had matching Cons--my son would LOVE that!

What to wear (Idaho's family photographer for Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Blackfoot)

I've had a lot of people lately asking me what to wear for their photo session. I'm definitely not an expert in this area, but I put together something that I think looks good together. I love color, and I think it looks so much better than the standard white shirt and khakis/jeans that everyone seems to resort to when faced with what to wear to get their pictures taken. All of the clothing in this set was found at OldNavy.com

I'm hoping to be able to do a few more of these soon....if anyone finds them at all useful :)

I got to spend some time with my family this evening, and we took my little niece out to do a few pictures in her new green dress. She's also modeling the little flower headband that I made out of scraps of fabric--too cute!

She even found a new little friend to play with.... It was a good day :)

Contemplation (Idaho's family photographer for Blackfoot, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls)

Just a couple of my little girl after she had woken up from her nap yesterday--she was still so sleepy. I can't believe how long her hair is getting now. My kids are growing up too fast!

She was crouched down in front of the couch for this one, looking out the window. The dark fabric of the couch faded away into black when I converted the picture to black and white. I did do a little burning to get rid of the white lining though.

Buerklie and Hannah (Idaho's child and family portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello)

These two sisters were so sweet, and I've decided that Buerklie is my new best friend after she said how much fun it was to do pictures! She was pretty excited to wear the little tutu that I brought with me. I was a little nervous about what the weather would do after our hailstorm yesterday, but it was beautiful. The ground was a little wet, but everything else was perfect!

I love chubby babies with big bubbles!

I haven't used my pink chair for a while, so it was fun to break that out again!

Paxten (Idaho's newborn photographer for Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, and Pocatello)

I've been looking forward to doing these pictures for a while now, but I got to do them sooner than I expected--little Paxten was born 5 WEEKS early! Both mom and baby are doing well, and he got to come home from NICU the day before I did his pictures. He was 17 days old when I did them, and had already gained about a pound.

I LOVE this first picture. It looks like he's giving the "I love you" sign :)

Senior! (Idaho's senior portrait photographer for Blackfoot, Idaho Falls,and Pocatello)

Last night I was able to take Elsha out for her senior pictures, and we had a lot of fun wandering around downtown and discovering new spots.

She noticed these wings drawn on the wall, and we were really excited to do pictures with them.

Aren't these some creepy looking stairs?!! (cool for pictures though!) I tried a different type of processing on them to make them feel moody--what do you think?

Elsha is prom queen at her high school--AWESOME!

I got to do a few pictures for this little brown-eyed cutie over the weekend. I love the pop of color from her bright blue hair bows. She thought it was funny when I told her that my little girl has the exact same dress :)
